Summer Time Haircut
Rennie and I are home from our visit to my aunt's house: I am a bit sleepy but Rennie, she's exhausted. She's lying next to me on a couch pillow while I type this, completely sacked out and paying zero attention to anything I've done since we got home.
We spent the day over at my aunt and uncle's, eating cake, watching a bunch of teenagers (including my cousin) swim in the pool and playing with a 3-month-old baby my mom kidnapped from her friend for a few hours. (Actually, said friend was in desperate need of some alone time and mom volunteered to babysit.) It's been a really, really long time since I've held an infant and darnit, they're totally cute. Also, the 3-year-old daughter of one of my aunt's friends was there. I'd also forgotten how adorable 3-year-olds can be. She was cute and well-behaved and said the funniest things! (And she was enamored with Rennie who, as usual, couldn't be bothered to acknowledge anyone because, OMG!, there are chips on the ground over there! And someone has been cooking meat somewhere! MUST FIND IT...)
Anyway, I'm now full of barbecued hot dogs and baked beans and chips and dip and cake and ice cream (and yet, inexplicably, I'm hungry...) Rennie also got (part of) a hot dog today but only as a bribe for standing still while my aunt used her clippers to clean up the partial grooming disaster I'd made earlier. I think Ren looks much better now - even if the hair on one side of her head is a teensy bit shorter than the hair on the other side - since we were able to groom her neck and chest areas.
Turns out part of my problem was that the clipper set I bought was useless in that the blade was dull. So I guess I'll be returning that little item and ordering myself some clippers that actually work. And also, I could use a pair of blending shears but the good ones (i.e. like clippers, the ones that actually work!) are pretty danged expensive. Definitely an industry where you get what you pay for, I guess. So I'll be saving up my little pennies...
