Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
My dogs are tired, folks. And I haven't even been standing around today. What I mean is, I worked 12 hours today and I am pooped. TWELVE. HALF A DAY.
Unless you are a nurse - which I am not, last time I checked - and working 3 12-hour days, a 12 hour day is not an acceptable work-schedule. I could have quit working sooner, I know that. But I'm on vacation for two weeks beginning Friday, and there was a ton of stuff I needed to wrap up, take care of or put in place so things run (mostly) smoothly while I'm gone. Plus, we're working on an enormous project for the CEO of a very large software company that shall remain nameless and it needs to get done this week. So I'm a little bit stuck.
Still, though... 12 hours is just wacky. As God as my witness, I'll never be hungry..... err, oops. (Name that movie! :) I mean, I am NOT working 12 hours again tomorrow.
I hope.
Aside from the lack of anything interesting going on because I spent the day working, I do have a couple things to share:
1) One of my photos was chosen to be included in Schmap's listing for the Portland Marathon! Schmap is a mapping website that offers information about a variety of things going on in different places for each city you visit, and includes pictures to accompany those listings. It wasn't the best photo I've ever taken but, um, COOL!
2) All systems go for Tysabri on Friday. At least, at this point. I haven't heard from my doctor about the recent PML cases and what it means for my treatment (why does that not surprise me?), though I did call a couple times only to get voicemail. Their website does note they're giving a talk on Friday, August 15 and that they're not recommending patients discontinue use across the board, so I suspect they're working their way through their patient list and I'll get a call at some point. So I'm planning to go in on Friday, even if I'm feeling a bit more wigged out now than I was when I first wrote last week about the new PML cases. I'm not sure I'm wigged out enough to stop taking it (yet) but it does worry me a bit that the PML seems to appear whether or not you're taking Tysabri as a monotherapy. Despite the knowledge that I'm more likely to die walking out my front door than I am from contracting PML, the news still makes me pause.
3) I turn 33 in 10 days. I'm not sure what else to say about that, except maybe to point out that my baby sister is going to be 18 in 17 days... yipes. Where does the time go?
4) RITE-AID rules: I took back the clippers I bought yesterday and they handed over $24.99 cash money, no questions asked! Well, the girl did ask if there was anything wrong with the clippers and I told her they didn't do what I needed them to do, and she just handed over the cash. So as good as no-questions-asked as far as I'm concerned! My new clippers are in the mail as we speak. Yahoo! (Rennie is very afraid. As she should be...)
5) I am woefully behind on blog-reading, so here is my blanket apology to all ya'll whose blogs I've been neglecting: I'M SO SORRY! I'll catch up while I'm on vacation next week, I promise! (I mean, assuming I GET TO go on vacation given how much we have going on at work!)

I'm sorry...what were you saying? I got stuck scrolling back to look at the cute little doggie again! I don't know why, but that picture in the previous post is priceless.
Happy vacationing to you, Ms. Scarlett!

That's awesome about RiteAid, the customer is always right still holds true at least some places :)
Have you seen Wall-E? It's NOTHING like Happy Feet, you'll really enjoy it, I highly recommend it as a rainy day holiday activity!

Well actually farm workers have to work longer than 12 hours for 6 days in a row with no vacations or benefits, so that would really suck! But trust me I've worked some 60-70 hour weeks & it's no fun when you have a chronic illness.
Congrats on your pic being chosen! It's great & you deserve it!
And what are you going to do about your b-day? So far 33 has has been my favorite year & I hope it will be an amazing year for you too!
