Updates of the Household Variety
So I promised some shots of the house-re-arrangement, and now that I have a little bit of time to sit on my heiny and surf the net, I figured I'd post some pretty pitchers for ya'll to see.
A couple weeks back, during my vacation, I put together a plan using Better Homes & Gardens' Arrange-a-Room tool and over the course of my vacation I managed to schedule an appointment to have a new cable outlet installed, clean the house and rearrange the room. I was a bit skeptical that the plan would work - since BHG's room tool sometimes makes it look like there's more space than there really is - but as I was so tired of my apartment being arranged as it was, I decided to give the new arrangement a shot.
And you know what? It worked out!!

The downside of this arrangement is that the view while I'm playing isn't quite so nice, but in general that's a small price to pay for the advantages of the new arrangement:
a) I now have room to put a dining table in my "dining room" area,
b) the piano actually sounds better where it is - the sound has more room to move, maybe, since the "business end" of the piano is no longer shoved into a corner. :)
and c) if I ever get it into my head that it would be a good idea to have people over to listen to me (or someone else!) play, there is now room enough to set up a number of chairs for people to sit and listen! (Oh, what have I done!)
So that's the latest and greatest on my apartment; I've also got a plan sketched out for putting in raised beds and bulbs and other features in my side yard. Due to my lack of planning ahead, however, the actual raised-bed creation is going to have to wait until next year since most of my budget dollars are already earmarked for paying down debt and buying things for inside the apartment... but stay tuned! I LOVE IT!!! Not that I though it was bad before, but this just looks much more open, airy, & welcoming - good on ya Zee!!!
