The Continuing Misadventures of Thyroid Girl
So it's been a while since I last posted, but that has more to do with my being too tired to think after a long day at work than it does with lack of anything to say. Well, that's not entirely true: some days I'm so tired I can't think of anything worth saying.
Anyway. So after talking to a friend who's had thyroid issues for years and doing some research on the web and leaving an unreturned voicemail for The Good Doctor, I finally made a follow-up appointment with my internist to discuss the Thyroid Thing. Because, despite having stopped taking the Copaxone three weeks ago, the fatigue and lightheadedness and cold feet and whatnot continued.
Yesterday I went in to see her and was promptly given a prescription for Synthroid and told to make an appointment in 6 to 8 weeks for another set of labs and follow-up. We're still not entirely sure what is causing what, but I started on the new medication this morning and I'm hopeful that there will be positive change. Perhaps, even, positive enough that I can restart the Copaxone and feel somewhat decent on it.
In other news, I learned yesterday that I will be headed to Pittsburgh in about two weeks for a training class! I've never been to Pittsburgh before and, although I've heard some less-than-great things about it, I am looking forward to the trip. I haven't been on a business trip in years - literally - so it should be nice to get out of the office!
That said, I haven't a clue what there is to do in Pittsburgh. I did look up the Pirates' game schedule and they are, of course, on the road the week I'll be there. :-( So a baseball game is not an option. I suspect there will be some kind of socializing with other trainees and folks I'm traveling with from my company, but I think it'd be fun to see some of the sights of Pittsburgh when not otherwise occupied. I just don't have any idea what those sights might be. Anyone have suggestions?

Wow, I sure hope you get everything worked out soon. Guess I'm lucky. The only med I'm on is Copaxone!
Good Luck!

Well aside from knowing that last year the American Lung Association named Pittsburgh as the second most polluted metropolitan area, there must be some good things to see there. I think it's Pitt that has Fort Duquesne and the Frick Center. I've never been but a mate of mine grew up there and he really loved it. Can't wait to hear what you thought of it & where you went!
