I meant to go to bed early....

And here I am blogging...

Ah well. Best intentions and all that...

Anyway, I'm not sure why, but time seems to just fly by when you're in the new stages of a relationship. Nr. Norris and I spent the majority of the weekend together and rather than growing sick of him, I think I like him better now than I did on Friday afternoon.

(Yeah, I know. Barf. ;-)

I realized recently, though, that this year is the first year I've actually had a "valentine" on Valentine's Day in about 6 years! Valentine's Day hasn't ever really been a big deal for me in the past, but for once I'm excited about participating in it. We have a beach trip planned for Saturday the 16th, but on the actual day Mr. Norris is coming over for dinner. I've got the menu planned and the grocery list created - all I have to do now is come up with a gift. It turns out that I'm bad at "romantic."

There are few things harder than buying a romantic gift for someone you've been dating for only two months. I'm inclined to think that buying "stuff" may not be the way to go, as much as I know he would like a new iPod or other fun techno-gadget. Being broke as I am, for the foreseeable future, I'm leaning towards making something - like a handmade card with a heartfelt sentiment, but I shall have to think on it for a while. Maybe the perfect (or at least nice) gift will come to me in a dream!

In the meantime, I pose this question for my readers out there: What was the most meaningful gift (Valentine's Day or otherwise) you've ever received, and why?

Happy almost-February, everyone. This year is starting off well and flying by quickly!! (Wish me luck at my neurologist appointment tomorrow. I'm hoping it's the last one with this doctor!)

V-Day is no big deal to me either. But I love it when I'm with someone I care for to spend the day together doing silly things like a cheap date movie and dinner at the Savoy or something.

I'd have to say hands down the best present ever was for my birthday of 2006 - I was away from my family for the first time ever (normally I'd get to see at least one of them, if not all) and I some what knew my bf and I were about to break up and the very next day a card arrived from my mate Matt back home in the states with a poem about friendship on it - it couldn't have arrived at a better time! probably second best to the poem would be a plant (btw I got one for my 30th :)
Good luck with the neuro - you're probably there as I'm typin this, so I'll keep my fingers crossed, hugs from london, xx

Jeff and I were together a couple of months when our first gift-giving occasion(s) arrived-- our birthdays, a week apart. It was definitely a challenge that early on to work within the somewhat limited knowledge we had of each other and still be creative. He got me cute, knee-high striped socks, a Flying Spaghetti Monster shirt, and some stuff from Lush. For Xmas, a couple months later, he got me bike tools. I still laugh about how well he already knew me and still love those tools.

My point, I guess, is not to worry about it too much at this point. Do something simple but sweet.

I've never really gotten a good Valentine's Day gift although Seattle Boy did take me our for steak fritte and a modern dance performance which was pretty nice of him. Why don't you make him a song list or mix CD he can put on his iPod? I always think those can convey a LOT of sentiment and is something relatively cheap and fun to make.

I'd say the best VD gift ever was a DIVORCE! LOL Just kidding...

How about making up some coupons for Mr. Norris for V-Day? Like a coupon for a massage, a movie, a meal, a walk, etc...all things you could do or provide. Just a thought...but I'm not really a hopeless romantic...just hopeless.
