Baby Clothes Galore!
Over the last few months I've managed to string together some time to do some knitting - mostly on the weekends while avoiding schoolwork and sitting on my rear watching TV. I like knitting baby garments because they're quick and easy. Plus, they take less yarn and are thus less expensive to make. Plus, having made all these little sweaters and booties and hats, I always have something sitting in my gift closet should a baby shower come up unexpectedly!
Yesterday after my chiropractic appointment, I stopped by the specialty button shop a block away and picked up some buttons and ribbons to finish up a few of the projects I'd completed. So, as promised, here are the latest projects I've been working on, starting with the newest:
Preemie Hat & Bootie, made from Sirdar pattern 1662 using debbie bliss baby cashmerino yarn in purple:

I just finished these two pieces on Monday, and am currently working on bootie #2. They are tiny. Yarn Garden here in Portland is having a charity knitting project for preemies and I'm planning to participate. According to the Yarn Garden's site:
"...the smallest preemie hat will fit a plum; the larger preemie hat will fit an orange. Just to compare, a full-term baby hat would fit a grapefruit."
I think the little hat I made will probably fit a small orange, so I think I'm in the ballpark. However, since these both have merino wool in them and the hospitals have asked for washable cotton or synthetics I'll be keeping this set and using the Sirdar Snuggly yarn I picked up while last at the yarn store.
Here's a shot of a little stuffed bear I have wearing the bonnet:

Blue boy's top with triangle edging:

This is from the book Debblie Bliss Number One and made with Rowan Wool Cotton in medium blue. I really liked the Peter Rabbit buttons I found. Unfortunately, when I tried sewing on the third one the back broke off. :( So I have to take it back and exchange it.
Pink & White Booties:

From 50 Baby Booties to Knit, by Zoe Mellor. Made with (what else?) Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino yarn.
Fair Isle Sweater, now with buttons!

Teddy Bear Cardigan, with buttons:

I went with pretty but rather basic buttons for this one since the sweater has so much going on.

Even before I read the comment above, I also think you've got a career (or second career) possibility with those gorgeous clothes. You should sell some at some specialty shop! I'm am as always so impressed with all your talents. Love, Mary
