Giving Frosty Paws a Try

Remember when I scoffed at Frosty Paws, the ice cream made specifically for dogs??

Well, turns out I'm an idiot.

The stuff is genius. I bought a box yesterday when I stopped by Albertson's to pick up some diet Coke (that store's claim to fame: cheap cases of soda and dog ice cream in their freezer) and today I decided to see what Rennie would do with it.

Well, as you might expect, she ate it. Quickly and hungrily as if she'd never been fed in her life. And there is an awful lot of ice cream in that little tub, so I ended up only letting her have half of it. But she seemed to have no trouble wrangling the little Dixie Cup and eating the creamy goodness out of it. Click the photo above to see all the shots on flickr.

She even took to guarding it a bit until I picked it up out from under her chin. But she chased me around and jumped up and down after I grabbed it and barked at the fridge after I put the partially-eaten cup back in the freezer. So I think it's a hit! Turns out it's made primarily out of fat. And soybean crud.

I'm not entirely clear on what "flavor" the stuff actually is, though, because there's an advertisement on the box for their "other" variety, "peanut butter flavor." This one was fat flavor, maybe.

So, who knew dog ice cream would be so exciting? Maybe we oughta try the pork-flavored water! (Kidding. Mostly.)

Comments

OMG, I'm so glad it was a hit!! I love the photos where she has a bit on her nose & is staring at you like, "is there more mom?"

Let me know how the pork water tastes - LMAO

I'm off to NY now, will check back in next week.
