I'm Fine. Really I am.
Just in case ya'll were wondering.
Because I got calls and emails today from a few of you, wondering, "err... are you alright?" and "how are you feeeeling??"
I do appreciate the concern. I do! But I'm fine. I may need to talk to my psychiatrist about upping my meds on account of all the dramatic hyperbole and whatnot, but I'm really just fine.
Except for that little breakdown I had today at the post office. Moments of irony seem to hit me a) when I least expect them and b) right after I've had some happy thought about some facet of my life about which I've composed a brilliant blog post in my head.
Yeah, so on my way to pick up my mail from my post office box I was composing a blog post in my head about how I don't typically write about work-related topics (see: "dooced") but I was making an exception this time because of some brilliant reason (I don't remember what) and by the way did you see Bill Gates on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart?? and blah blah blah and then I opened my post office box and it exploded.
No, I'm kidding.
But my bonus check was in there, so that was good! But it was only half the amount that I was expecting, so that was bad. And so then I had to look at it a couple different times and scratch my head and wonder whether I'd miscalculated or what. And then, despite my best measures of self-restraint, I got really angry. So after picking up a sandwich from New Seasons (my favorite store!) I went home and called the nice people in the finance department of my company and we got it all straightened around and they're sending me another check with the additional money. Thank goodness. But it was touch and go there with my sanity, for a little while.
The only other thing of real note that has happened in the last day or so is, I sat down to practice the piano tonight and I have never sounded sloppier. I knew this time would come; I just thought it would take longer. So yes, I dragged out my metronome and I'm going to start using it. Soon. Really.
Btw, that video of Bill Gates on the Daily Show is really quite funny. I was surprised. It's not as good as this one (Jon Stewart on Crossfire, from a couple years ago), of course, but it's interesting to watch. Bill Gates is funny! Who knew!?
Also, from the "strange things to feed your dog" department, this is right up there with the doggie beer and pork-flavored water: Frosty Paws, by Purina. Ice cream for dogs. Seriously?

The first time I saw Frosty Paws was this past thanksgiving at my friend's aunt's house, it was hysterical Nikey would carry it over to his bed & just sit there for 10 minutes licking till it was all gone - course it might be a bit big for the princess, since Nikey is a Doberman.

I am glad to hear that you are okay. Sorry that you had such a bad day though! That sucks! Hopefully you will have better days to come.
Ice cream for dog, eh? lol What will they think of next???
