Getting Caught Up
So I finally sat down this evening and slogged through my reading for the week. I typically get my reading/tutorials done the weekend before the new week starts, but last weekend I was, well, a bit tweaked because of the piano shopping and the doggie illness and the only thing I did besides pick up Rennie from the vet and spend a lot of money on a piano is SHOP ONLINE.
Because spending several thousand dollars on a large noise-making object that takes up a lot of room in my house and doubles as a piece of furniture was simply not enough spending for me. Apparently. After shopping online at the Gap and Pottery Barn, I then also had to go buy hair do-dads from J.Crew and mascara from Chanel.
Now, to be fair, I'd lost my favorite barrette when Sara and I went to see Happy Feet before Christmas, so did need to replace it as they're the ONLY clips I've found that will hold my hair. But then, once moving on to Nordstrom (conveniently located across the aisle!) it was all I could do to NOT purchase some Chanel #5. I don't even wear perfume and yet, the Chanel! And it was #5! And it wasn't on a sale of any kind, so it was down to the bargain price of $60 for 1 ounce!
Yeah, I drew the line right there. Not even I can justify that.
(Quick aside, though: I remember my mom had a bottle of Chanel #5 when I was a kid; I don't remember her ever putting it on but I do remember always seeing it on her dresser and I used to pick it up and smell it occasionally. So when I was at Saks around Christmas picking up some Chanel Inimitable mascara as a gift for a friend, I almost bought some #5 for my mom. That was until a) I remember she doesn't wear perfume and b) I found out the stuff was at least $60 for the smallest bottle of the cheapest stuff. (Did you know there are 6 different STRENGTHS of this stuff? The things you learn, just by walking up to the counter!)
Anyway, it just didn't seem like the best use of funds, even with the nostalgia element factored in. So I told myself, "maybe for her birthday!" I got her a mini Cuisinart for her birthday last year and a paper shredder for Christmas, so it can only get better from there, right? I am so thoughtful! Mom, if you don't want perfume, tell me now. :)
My, look how that digressed!
Anyway! Shopping. I cannot figure out what posesssed me to to spend so darned much money mere hours before I had to spend a LOT more money to get Rennie out of jail pay for Rennie's medical expenses. Certainly wasn't my most responsible moment.
My point with the preceding 6 paragraphs of drivel is to convey that I have been rather distracted the last week, between work and the piano and Rennie's illness and all of that. So my weekend is going to be primarily spent at home working through more of my online lectures and trying to get AHEAD.
Happy Friday, everyone! May you all have a restful and refreshing weekend. (Just don't go see Happy Feet.)

Now THAT'S funny! I love it when someone (else) gets distracted from their business...it makes me feel like less of a LOSER as I putter around getting nothing done. I frankly think there should be classes about it...or at least a manual you could buy ON LINE! LOL
