I Done Bought Me a Bed!
I have been busy the last couple days!! I've gotten up at 5 am the last two mornings and worked straight until 2 or 3 pm each day, with barely a break of any kind. TOO BUSY at work. Thankfully, this kind of work craziness doesn't happen often.
So yesterday was the first day I was able to get into my new apartment! Rennie and I went over there yesterday evening on our way to Rennie's Canine Musical Freestyle class (a.k.a. "dancing" with your dog) and took some pictures and some measurements. I think I'm going to be happy there!
All the photos I took are up on my flickr stream, but I did include a few in the extended entry.
Meanwhile, I was tired of fretting about my not havng a bed, so I decided that today was the day I was going to Buy a Bed. I was finished with work around 2:30, so I looked up a variety of mattress stores and mapped out a little route for myself.
I started at BedMart. I walked into BedMart and there was pretty much NO ONE in there - a few customers here or there but, generally, I couldn't tell which people were the clerks and which were the customers because no one said anything to me. Seriously, I thought for a minute I was invisible. I layed down on several of the beds in my price range, but decided that - since I clearly didn't exist - I would go somewhere else and come back if I didn't find anything cheaper.
Next I tried to go to Sleep Country, but apparently I'd gotten the address wrong because I ended up on a dead-end dirt road. Errr, oops. It was ok, though, because I visited a different Sleep Country last week and didn't really find anything I was excited about.
So I went on down to Mattress World, where the clerks walked right up to me and said hello, asked how I was and how they could help. And it wasn't in a fakey, stupid sort of way. I've worked retail, I know when people aren't sincere. The guy was just very pleasant and asked me what I was looking for. When I told him, he promptly showed me three mattresses that were within my price range and explained the differences between them.
I am a sucker for good customer service and, since the sales dude was offering me my choice of the three beds at the price I was looking to spend ($100-200 off the tag price - BONUS!) and with free shipping I decided to plunk down my money right then. I ended up with a queen-size, pillow-top Englander mattress. It's comfy and hopefully it will last! I've been sleeping on basic, run-of-the-mill beds my whole life, so I hope this one will be great! Delivery is Sunday. WOO!
More importantly, I can cross "buy a bed" off my list of things to do before moving! I stopped by Target on my way home and picked up some cleaning and household supplies, in addition to a TV cart. Target has several desks I may want to use for my work set-up, so I'm glad I stopped by there. My plan is to head over to the apartment tomorrow after work and do some cleaning. I'm so excited!!

Not too crazy about the color of the wood on the cabinets, but it'll look better once my stuff is in there.

Not sure if I'm going to put a table here or pantry/shelf thingies... we'll see.

Careful... don't overdo the work thing. Although, it's a good idea to get a decent bed. Mmmmm ... sleep.

Oh, pillow top . . . how I miss mine back in the states!!!
Glad you seem to be having a good day, mine's been total crap :( Days like this I just want to jump on a plane & fly home to the states & get a hug from my mom, dad or sister, instead I sit in this gosh-darn HOT flat of mine & whine!
Can't wait to see your flat with all your stuff in it - looks good now, but always looks more like a real home with your stuff in it!

So envious of your pillow top! I had to leave mine in Oregon and my grandparents are thoroughly enjoying it while I sleep on a horrible Serta (pretty much their cheapest version. It's not as bad as say sleeping directly on the wire springs without any padding, but it sometimes comes close! Here's to many moons of good sleep for you. :-)
