My First Pair of Socks
Last night I put the finishing touches on my first ever pair of socks! I have to say, I love this sock knitting stuff. This pair went really fast and they're thick and cosy and warm. I am in love with them. They are, though, a gift for a lucky family member who shall remain nameless for the time being. Still, I can admire my handiwork for a bit longer since I haven't wrapped them up yet. :o) Here are some shots of the completed project:

Finished pair. Caveat: the photo makes them look like they're different, but in real life they are pretty close to identical.
Once my package of yarns from KnitPicks arrive I'll get started on another pair - I've got to get to my local yarn store for some smaller needles. I think I'm going to try the method suggested in the book Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles, by Cat Bordhi. My mom sez it makes for a smoother sock all the way around and isn't quite as annoying as knitting on double pointed needles. I tend to dislike dpns in general, so I'm a bit surprised I enjoyed knitting this first pair of socks on them. Hopefully the two-circular-needle method will take care of that little problem. We shall see!

Woo-hoo! Nice socks! I would have a hard time giving those away.
The Magic Loop method is really nice for socks, and you don't have to buy two needles of the same size -- just one 40".
